Seoul National University (SNU) Office of Research Affairs is pleased to announce the upcoming launch of the Strategic Hub for International Research Collaboration program to foster global research networks and support the professional growth of early-career researchers. This new program will open for applications in the second half of 2025.
Program Overview
This initiative aims to advance cutting-edge national strategic technologies and tackle global challenges through international research collaboration. For STEM and medical disciplines, priority will be given to projects aligned with Korea’s 12 National Strategic Technologies.
Key Details
○ Funding Period: Up to 3 years (1+1+1, continuation subject to annual review)
○ Estimated Funding: ~8 projects; up to KRW 176 million per project per year
○ Funding Support: Seed grants for joint research, researcher mobility, and costs for international workshops and collaboration activities
Eligibility
○ Principal Investigator: Full-time, endowed, or HK faculty currently affiliated with SNU
○ Team Composition Requirements: Minimum 2 SNU early-career researchers + minimum 2 overseas researchers
○ Within 6 months of project start, teams must:
① Establish at least two international research teams led by early-career researchers with senior faculty mentorship
② Host an international workshop with all participating researchers (including overseas partners) featuring research sharing and at least three academic presentation sessions
○ All SNU early-career researchers must participate in at least one capacity-building training session
○ Non-compliance may result in termination and recovery of research funds.
Anticipated Timeline
○ Full Call for Applications Opens: August–October 2025
○ Selection & Award: November–December 2025
