1. Objective
A. To focus on supporting future-leading academic fields that can contribute to the advancement of global scholarship, fostering these areas to reach world-class standards.
B. To nurture academic fields with excellent research capabilities and build a foundation for contributing to global academic development through systematic and in-depth strategic planning and excellence.

Academic units representing academic fields, such as departments, research institutes, or collaborations between departments and research institutes.

※To provide more opportunities and growth momentum for various academic fields, the support structure was changed from two categories in 2020 (Excellent, Potential) to three categories in 2021 (Excellent, Promising, Potential). However, based on the 2023 evaluation, the support structure was adjusted back to two categories in 2024 (Excellent, Potential).
C. Support Duration
Maximum of 6 years [2 phases: 3+3 years]. Continuation of support and funding amount will be determined through a mid-term evaluation six months before the end of the first phase.

E. Mid-Term Evaluation
· Purpose: To manage project effectiveness, the mid-term evaluation will determine whether to continue support and decide the funding amount.
· Evaluation Criteria: Achievement of goals compared to the first phase plan, project outcomes, and the second phase plan.
· Evaluation Timeline:
2022: Mid-term evaluation of 15 academic fields selected in 2020.
2023: Mid-term evaluation of 5 academic fields selected in 2021.
