Establishment objective and history
Established in October 2008 to encourage the founding of business ventures by faculty and students of Seoul National University and to facilitate the commercialization of the school's excellent technology resources (representative director: Prof. Hong Kook-sun (Department of Material Sciences and Engineering).
Main Functions
▶ Provide consultation to faculty and students wishing to found a business venture regarding the potential for commercialization and the commercialization process
▶ Discuss important matters regarding founding a business venture on behalf of the university
▶ Establish a subsidiary where the school (Seoul National University Technology Holdings) holds a partial share through case or invest ment upon based on discussion with the founder
▶ Provide support such as commercialization funds, additional development funds, venture funds to the subsidiary in connection with outside investment institutions, Korean Intellectual Property Office, Small and Medium Business Administration etc.

Current State of Affairs
▶ 18 subsidiaries have founded as of August, 2012
▶ Total sales revenue of subsidiaries approx. 3 billion KRW in 2011
Subsidiary founding procedure
▶ Consultation with founder (professor and student)
▶ Review business plan: Whether to use school-owned technology, growth potential, size of initial funding etc.
▶ In case commercialization potential must be verified beforehand due to the nature of the technology, verification expenses shall be to the account of Seoul National University Technology Holdings
▶ In case the founder agrees with establishing a subsidiary, part of the initial funds shall be for the account of Seoul National University Technology Holdings
